Janna’s heart is heavy with grief and broken by betrayal. But as she leaves the big city for a quaint midwestern town, the future feels less frightening with her best friend, Shelby, by her side. After landing a job in the local fresh market and the attentions of a handsome architect, she may yet learn to heal old scars…
Shelby loves the position Janna secured for her and the new sense of community, but wishes small-town life wasn’t so lonely. After packing up all she could salvage from her painful past, she endures more than her fair share of bumps on the winding road to recovery. Afraid her heart may be too damaged for real love, she drowns her sorrows in drunken nights at bars.
With new heartaches around every corner, can Janna and Shelby stay true to their friendship and their dream of lasting freedom?

I am always on the look out for new authors to interview, and I think i’ve landed on my feet with Deborah.
Q1: What inspired you to write Day Dreamer?
Daring Dreamer and the remaining books in the Inspiration in Cologne series are filled with my passions. I have also lived in a rural area for a few years and found the distinct differences of city/rural living intriguing. I knew I would enjoy writing about a small town setting.
Q2: Who would you want to play the main characters in your book if your novel was optioned for tv / film?
I envision Kate Hudson in Janna’s role and Jessica Biel in Shelby’s. Both women match my main female characters in appearance and personality. I can envision Chris Pine playing Richard’s role. His blue eyes and the rest of physical attributes match Richard’s perfectly. I imagine him being intelligent, athletic, and physically equal to Richard.
Q3: How many rejections did you get before you got a publishing deal?
I’m going the Indie Author route. That route works differently than the traditional/conventional route.
Q4: Which authors inspired you to write?
Louisa May Alcott, Maeve Binchy, and Liane Moriarty. These authors weave incredible stories.
Q5: What are your writing routines?
I begin my novels by organizing the ideas and characters for my story using a pencil and a legal pad. This process is called ‘mind mapping’ or ‘clustering.’ I then structure an outline to my story and begin writing in my favorite, comfy chair in the family room with my cat sitting on my lap. When I finish writing the first draft, I then use Word, read through my manuscript, and add or delete scenes. When I’m satisfied with the first draft, I send it to my multi-talented editor. Let’s say there are no rewrites, Yay, which brings my editor and me to the final proofreading stage.
Q6: If you could go back to when you first started writing what one piece advice would you give yourself
I knew that I would take the Indie author route when I began writing. If I started this process over, I would have honed my social media and marketing skills much earlier.
Q7: What would you say to someone who wants to write?
If you think your story has been written, it hasn’t. Only you can write your story, because we’re all unique and possess our own perspectives. So, of course, I would encourage someone to write and keep writing to let the process evolve.
Q8: If you weren’t writing what would you be doing?
I can’t imagine doing anything else at this stage of my life. I enjoy writing and will continue to do so for the remaining years I have left, hopefully many. Though, if I was forced to pick something else, I would love to be a proofreader.
Q9: Tell me something about yourself your readers might not know?
Some years ago, I aided in the care of a tiger cub for three months while I worked at a wildlife rescue center. It was one of the most amazing experiences in my life.
I would like to personally thank you for participating in Daring Dreamer’s, Rachel’s Random Resources tour. Thank you Deborah, it was fun talking to you.
