Insecure Writers Support Day!

Every 1st Wednesday of the month we all come together to support each other in our writing endeavors. You can join the blog hop by clicking Here

We all looked after by Alex Cavanaugh and his trusty co hosts are are Jemima Pett,Beth Camp,Beverly Stowe McClure, and Gwen Gardner!

So here we are again…

I am hopeful for my edits back this week for book two, which might see my excited for book three again, which I don’t even know when I last wrote any of that!

Things are a foot in my day job so hopeful for a promotion, but I have been burned before so no point thinking or talking about that.

Pretty boring here just plodding on waiting for the excitement to start again!

When you think of the term working writer, what does that look like to you? What do you think it is supposed to look like? Do you see yourself as a working writer or aspiring or hobbyist, and if latter two, what does that look like?

I would say a working writer is someone who works in writing full time and gets paid for it such as a journalist and possibly some of the well known authors. I want to say someone who writes and gets paid for it, but then again I get paid royalties from my book. But I don’t see myself as a writer I don’t even know which category I would put myself in. Maybe I am a hobbyist? I am inspired to write novels and have written two and a half!!!

 Perfect Liebook cover

Jen Garner tries her best to be ‘wife and mother of the year’. She helps organise school plays and accompanies her husband to company dinners, all with a big smile on her face.
But Jen has started to receive strange gifts in the post … first flowers, then a sympathy card.
It could just be a joke; that’s what she tells herself. But then the final ‘gift’ arrives, and Jen has to question why somebody is so intent on shattering her life into pieces …

  1. Happy IWSG Day!
I heartily agree you’re a working writer – good luck on the return of your edits and good words for the next round. It’s always exciting to come back to an old project, isn’t it? The break is so refreshing for the brain! 🙂

  2. As you’ll have seen, I had a struggle with this question too. Personally I don’t think the type of writer you are (or call yourself) matters that much, except when it has a direct impact on your own belief in your abilities. With two novels already under your belt and one WIP, you sound like a working writer to me.

      1. I think we can be affected by what someone else calls us – and not necessarily only negatively. Many individuals (not just writers) are externally validated.
